When was the last time you tried something new?
Today at work, I tried a Nutella cookie.
It was really good, but didn't really taste completely like Nutella.
There were lots of Nutella accents in each bite but I'd say that the cookie failed to capture the dual hazelnut and chocolate essence of Nutella completely.
Don't get me wrong, I completely enjoyed the cookie (thanks, Gloria!) but not in the way that I thought I'd enjoy it.
This question is supposed to provoke deep thought. So I will force myself deeper.
I don't actually try new things too often. I have a chronic fear of letting people down. I even fear letting MYSELF down.
So I don't really expect anything. I coast through life just hoping that good things happen but brace myself for the worst.
As such, when bad things happen, I can say, "I told you so" and when good things happen, I can say, "Well, there's a fluke." I became unappreciative of the blessings and grimly inviting of the curses.
Long story short, I changed. But that's a story for another question.
